PROVEN
Online Course (powered by Virtual Drive of America):
learning has never been easier or more flexible. These 32 hours
of online virtual classroom instruction allows the student to learn
in the comfort of their own home, at their own pace, and their own
schedule. Retention is so important when it comes to learning how
to drive. We can't afford to let our children memorize this information
just to pass a test and than forget it. This driver education material
has been designed and developed to teach your child in the most
proven and effective method for retention.

Classroom
Course: a traditional classroom setting lead by an instructor
using Excel in Driving's State of Colorado approved driving curriculum.
The classroom course would consist of 30 hours and includes everything
. . . no homework required.
Home-Study
Course: students are provided with the text book Drive Right,
The Colorado Driver Handbook, Excel in Driving Handbook,
resource information, and testing material. Parents or legal guardians
provide support and supervision as needed to the student as they
progress through the home-study driving curriculum. Excel in Driving
staff will be available by telephone and email, if support is needed.
Home-Study/Classroom
Combined Course: students are provided with the text book, Drive
Right, The Colorado Driver Handbook, Excel in Driving
Handbook, resource information, and testing material. Students
complete the 22 hour home study course and then attend the last
day of 8 hour classroom instruction. The last day of classroom instruction
will include Alcohol and Drugs Affects on Driving, Auto Insurance,
Car Maintenance, and Systems of the Car and How they Work.

Behind-the-Wheel
Behind-the-Wheel Practice: includes three, two-hour drives
with one-on-one instruction (and yes, when we say one-on-one, we
mean it - we don't have other students in the car waiting for their
time to drive). The first drive is a city drive stressing the skills
needed for driving in an urban setting from residential to major
thoroughfares. It provides driving basics and evaluates the student's
current proficiently. The second drive is a mountain drive where
steering, braking and highway skills are learned and mastered. The
third drive includes a practice driving test, overcoming any deficiencies
that may have occurred and also provides practice on various types
of paved roads and intersections. This program provides the student
with the necessary skills to a safe and responsible driver.
- Colorado
State Requirements
- At 14
years 6 months, students may start the coursework (online,
home-study or in the classroom) and will be eligible to take
the Colorado Driver's Written Test once they complete the
course and become 15 years old. Once written test is passed
they qualify for an Instruction Permit.
- Between
15 years and 16 years, students may obtain their Instruction
Permit after completing 30 hours of driver's education and
passing the Colorado Driver's Written Test.
- At the
age of 16, students may obtain their Instruction Permit without
coursework.
Anyone under 18 years must log 50 hours practice driving with
their driving instructor, parent or legal guardian and hold
their permit for at least 1 year before they are eligible
to take their driving test.
